Buildertrend’s NEW Estimating Experience: Full Walkthrough (Grid View, Allowances & Filters)
Oct 23, 2026Buildertrend just released a new estimating experience, and it changes how you build and manage estimates. In this video I switch on the new view and walk through a real residential estimate to show what’s different and how I’m using it at Oakvale Homes.
What’s covered:
- Turning on the “New experience” toggle in Estimates
- The new spreadsheet-style grid: cost codes, quantities, units, unit costs, cost types and markup in one view
- The header summary: builder cost + profit + tax = total price, always visible
- Custom views (like the Proposal Worksheet), grouping by cost category, and showing or hiding columns such as client price, margin and profit
- Collapsing cost code groups to get a quick high-level look at the whole job
- Selecting several line items at once and using “More actions” to make bulk changes
- Marking items as allowances or bids, and how allowances flow into Selections
- Filtering by “Mark as” to pull up only your allowance and bid items
